Webster--"the most important part"The core is made up of 35 muscles from the rib cage to the pelvis (front, back, and side of the body). 4 of the 35 muscles are specifically to stabilize the spine. If those 4 muscles do not stabilize the spine first, the body will not react as quickly as it should, nor will it be as efficient. Thus resulting in injury due to inefficient movement patterns. Core strength is the ability of these 35 muscles to keep your body’s center of gravity over your constantly changing base of support. Training in a controlled, unstable environment will properly require those 4 muscles of the core to stabilize the spine first and then allowing proper movement patterns to form with the other 31 muscles of the core. Movement begins, is transferred from, and ends at the core.
